The innovative Chevrolet Volt went on sale last year and quickly earned praise from customers and industry observers alike. The only challenge? It was just available in seven markets. But Chevy is up to that challenge this year: Already available for ordering in all 50 states, the Volt kicked off its national launch campaign for the rest of the country in July, when North Carolina utility companies took delivery of 27 Volts—with the Carolinas’ 128 Chevrolet dealers slated to begin receiving Volts for retail customers in August. The initial delivery of Volts was courtesy of a collaboration between GM, the Electric Power Research Institute and the utility companies, and was made possible by a $30.5 million grant administered by the U.S. Department of Energy‘s Recovery Act Transportation Electrification Initiative. “In-home and workplace charging experience is critical to market acceptance of electric vehicles,” said Britta Gross, GM director of Global Energy Systems and Infrastructure Commercialization. “Together with EPRI and leading utility companies such as Duke Energy and Progress Energy, we will transform transportation and make electric vehicles relevant and available to the mass market.”

It was an epic showdown between today’s most powerful HD pickups: A 2,200-mile torture test towing ten-ton trailers that was so tough, the editors at PickupTrucks.com called it the Heavy-Duty Hurt Locker. It involved “driving up two of the nastiest mountain climbs in the U.S. —from hot summer temperatures of more than 100 degrees in the Arizona desert to the oxygen-starved peaks of the Colorado Rockies, 11,000 feet above sea level,” according to the website’s experts, and “Through it all, we measured fuel economy, acceleration, power and braking and evaluated the confidence that each truck gave its driver.” And the winner of this grueling test of capabilities? The replacement for the current Chevrolet Colorado pickup is coming to the United States–maybe: General Motors has agreed to produce a mid-size pickup truck at its Wentzville, Missouri plant as part of its new agreement with the United Auto Workers. GM has yet to confirm as much, but this may be a good sign that the all-new Colorado may beheading to our market. A sizeable portion of the contract between GM and the UAW, which was made public on Tuesday, calls for GM to invest $2.5 billion in its domestic plants to boost American production. One of those investments surrounds GM’s Wentzville, Missouri plant, which presently builds the company’s full-size G vans (i.e. Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana). The agreement, however, calls for the plant to build a new midsize pickup. We wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if that truck turns out to be the all-new, second-generation Colorado. Although GM is wrapping up development of the truck for foreign markets, the automaker has shied away from explicitly stating the truck will be sold in North America. That said, a Chevy spokesperson previously indicated if the company decides to bring a midsize truck to our shores, it would be the new Colorado. Here’s hoping. Nearly 3,000 people die each year texting while driving. That's why the new 2012 Chevrolet models include Bluetooth technology, helping to keep your hands where they belong while driving!
Courtesy Chevrolet is having a hard time keeping the Cruze in stock due to its high demand. This year to date, dealers across the country have sold more than 160,000 Cruzes and only have a 30-day supply of the sedans, roughly half of the industry standard. Courtesy Chevrolet has had great figures with the Cruze since it debuted. Who wouldn't want the best eco car with the gas prices soaring? Chevrolet dealers across the country have seen a 16% jump in their brand being purchased after the Cruze came onto lots. Courtesy Chevrolet's sales are expected to keep reaching higher once the all-new sleek Sonic and extended range Volt role out to the dealership in the very near future. Come on down to Courtesy and test drive a Cruze today!
The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1’s supercharged 6.2L engine is SAE-rated at 580 horsepower (432 kW) and 556 lb.-ft. of torque (754 Nm) – making it the most-powerful production Camaro ever. The ZL1’s outstanding power is complemented by advanced powertrain and chassis technologies, including exclusive Performance Traction Management and third-generation Magnetic Ride Control. “The Camaro ZL1 delivers supercar performance and technology in the sports-car segment,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. “For sheer power, the ZL1 delivers more horsepower than a Ferrari 458, more torque than an Aston Martin DB9 V12, and a better power-to-weight ratio than a Porsche 911 Carrera GTS. “The Camaro ZL1 also features exclusive chassis and traction technologies,” Oppenheiser said, “to offer the best of all worlds – including balanced handling for the track, acceleration for a drag strip, and the comfort of a daily driver.” Preparing for the start of the new school year can be a challenging time, especially when it also involves shopping for a new vehicle. As the experts at Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com note, meeting the needs of parents and pupils alike requires a ride that is safe, affordable, reliable and fuel-efficient, but also good-looking, versatile and fun-to-drive—just like the Chevrolet Cruze, which was recently named to KBB.com’s “Top 10 Best Back-to-School Cars 2011.” KBB.com editors called the Cruze an impressive car that is “nice enough inside that they might think you’re borrowing your more sophisticated older brother’s car. In addition to a well-appointed and quiet cabin, the Cruze can comfortably seat five and has a large trunk for books and gear. It also features OnStar telematics with emergency crash response—something mom and dad will love knowing you’ll have just in case.” In addition to being one of the nation’s premier resources for online vehicle research, Edmunds.com also provides a key opportunity for owners themselves to review their vehicles, creating a unique—and important—measure of quality from consumers who know those vehicles best. And this year, it was the Chevrolet Volt that came out on top of its class in the website’s 2011 Consumers’ Top Rated vehicles list, besting all other vehicles in the “Hybrid” segment. (Note: As Edmunds.com admits, the Volt “isn’t really a hybrid like the Toyota Prius,” but the site didn’t have another category in which to put the unique Chevy!) As the U.S.’s best selling sports car for two consecutive years, the Chevrolet Camaro’s popularity goes beyond the road, to being Facebook’s most-popular vehicle, as well. With more than 1.8 million fans for the official page, the Camaro has more than any other car. Proving that Chevrolet has reached a younger market, of the 1.8 million fans, 60 percent of them are in the age range of 18 to 34. Carolin Probst-Iyer is the digital consumer engagement manager for Chevrolet, and she comments that “The community that has grown around the Camaro is truly remarkable. With nearly 2 million fans, people are constantly posting new photos and content, which in turn inspires comments and engagement from other fans. As a result, the community provides an invaluable way for us to communicate directly with the most passionate Camaro enthusiasts and to understand what they like most about their favorite sports car.” Since 2010 the Camaro has been outselling the Ford Mustang, and may do so by over 10,000 units between January and August this year. Chevrolet expects the model to continue to gain more popularity with the 2012 launch of the Camaro ZL1, and the Transformers Edition Camaro coming out this fall. The ZL1 model is going to be released at an impressive 550-hp, making it the most powerful Camaro to date.
